Football, Hurling, Handball

GAA continues to be a hive of activity and achievement across Connemara and the islands. The Ladies Gaelic Football Association fosters great interest through its popular 'Blitz' tournaments, nurturing talent right up to senior level. Cumann Liathróid Laimhe Mhaigh Cuilinn (Moycullen Handball) is looking forward to the Mike Regan Cup in January.

Rugby

Connemara RFC, the home of the mighty Connemara Blacks, are fundraising for a second pitch and entrance — donations welcome at www.connemararfc.ie. The U18 girl's at Oughterard RFC, meanwhile, go from strength to strength, with its dedicated members going on to make the Connacht and Irish squads.

Athletics

Ballyconneely saw the launch this year of Slyne Head Athletic Club, an all-inclusive organisation open to all ages. Leanann an oiliúint ar aghaidh i gCarna agus i gCill Chiaráin le Club Luthchleas Chonamara (Connemara Athletic Club).

Other Sports

Oughterard Boxing Club is offering training for children aged 8 and over. With five scenic courses across the region, Connemara remains a Golfing Mecca that has produced a rising star in local lad Luke O'Neill.
